Skinners’ iRoundUp students at ParentPay to make it happen

30 Dec 2015

Earlier this year, students from Skinners’ Academy in Hackney pitched their way to business glory by winning the 7th Mosaic Enterprise Challenge Grand Final. Now they’ve started working with ParentPay to make their award winning idea become a reality.

Mosaic was founded by HRH Prince Of Wales in 2007 to encourage young people from deprived communities to realise their talents and potential. This year Skinners’ students were voted top by a judging panel led by Claude Littner of BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’.

The winning students conceived iRoundUp, a charity fund raising concept based on ParentPay where students can round-up their daily dinner money spend to the nearest 10p.

On 10th November the students spent time with ParentPay’s software team, learning about the product development process and brainstorming ideas to bring iRoundUp to fruition. They were treated to a tour of ParentPay’s offices at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, including a chance to see the Wasps Rugby Stadium.

Clint Wilson, ParentPay CEO, spoke of his delight at being able to help make their idea become a reality:

“It’s such a great idea and could help raise millions of pounds for charities. I have been so impressed by the confidence, enthusiasm and commitment shown by the Skinners’ Academy students. The Academy must be so proud of what these talented young people set out to achieve and we’re thrilled that ParentPay can help make it happen.”

Speaking about the work of Mosaic, Clint added: “I think it’s so important that young people get an early understanding of the key components that contribute to a successful business and Mosaic combines this with helping instil the confidence required for future entrepreneurs to pursue their dream.”
