ParentPay CEO opens new ‘Belief’ classroom

26 Sep 2016

Since 2015, ParentPay have been proud supporters of The Memusi Foundation, a charity that builds schools in Sub-Saharan Africa, working to help children to escape poverty in their lifetime through education.

The Memusi Foundation, founded by Matthew Norton in 2006, believes passionately in education and the right that every person has to a free education.

ParentPay have been supporting a Memusi project which has resulted in the building of a new infant / pre-school in the Rift Valley, near Magadi in Kenya.

ParentPay CEO and nimbl founder, Clint Wilson has flown out to Kenya with a friend of ParentPay and serial Memusi fundraiser, Bernie Hollywood (OBE) to officially open the new classroom.

Before leaving for Kenya, Clint also announced that ParentPay would fund a full time teaching role for the classroom for the next three years, providing first time education for 30 young Maasai children each year.

Clint commented: “By opening the ParentPay / nimbl ‘Belief’ classroom, we are able to leave a lasting legacy within the community and by funding a teacher we are ensuring Maasai children can receive a free education. An investment which will pay dividends within the region for many years to come.”

During the week-long trip, alongside other volunteers, Clint will be helping at several Memusi schools, spending time with the children and the local community, and delivering water barrels and training to other remote communities in the region.

Clint added: “Matthew Norton, who founded Memusi, did so with a simple objective - to deliver free, high quality education to children in sub-Saharan Africa, to help educate themselves out of poverty. His model is one of sustainable solutions - building one classroom a year in partnership with the local communities. The charity has zero overheads – it’s just Matthew, his wife Sally, and many good hearted supporters who give up their time.”
