ParentPay helps Memusi Foundation build schools in Africa

07 Oct 2015

ParentPay are proud to announce their support of The Memusi Foundation, a charity that builds schools in Sub-Saharan Africa, working to help children to escape poverty in their lifetime through education.

The Memusi Foundation, founded by Matthew Norton in 2006, believes passionately in education and the right that every person has to a free education.

The 2015 project is to build a new infant / pre-school in the Rift Valley, near Magadi in Kenya. ParentPay is sponsoring the build and kit out of one of the classrooms, helping to provide a first time education for 30 young Maasai children each year.

The new classroom is set to open in January 2016 and Clint Wilson ParentPay CEO plans to visit the school to open the new facilities.

Also raising funds for the school is friend of ParentPay, serial fundraiser and world record holder, Bernie Hollywood OBE.

In June 2015, Jon Alexander and Bernie will be cycling 1700 miles on a tandem, over 14 days, to take them from Africa back home to Yorkshire.

Memusi builds its foundations with 4 pillars in each of its schools. These are quality education, health care, working with local communities and sustainability models. It is these key principles that provide each of our projects with strength to build and the foundations to last.

Clint Wilson, ParentPay CEO commented:

“At ParentPay we share Memusi’s belief in every child’s right to a free education and are delighted to have an opportunity to affect a small but meaningful change to people’s life’s in Africa.

We’re delighted to be able to support the Memusi Foundation and envisage this school being the first project in a long term relationship between ParentPay and the foundation.”
