Debt clearance (for LA catered secondary schools only)
Any debts not cleared before the end of the academic year will be cleared to zero and moved to the ‘School meal debt payments’ payment item for payers to settle their debts to the schools. Schools will be invoiced for these debts, and debt recovery will be the school’s responsibility, so it is essential that debts are reduced as much as possible over the remainder of the Summer term. Please click on the link below for further guidance on this process.
The school should pay the money out of their own school fund and not from dinner money received; all non-credit / debit card refunds to parents are made by the school by giving the parent cash.
The school should fill in the electronic authority to refund form and email it to either
The department will raise a journal to transfer the funds from the authority central account to the school’s own account.
A hard copy of this form should be printed and signed by the parent as proof of receipt and kept at school; a copy of the signed form should be sent to Enfield, Catering Services, 7th floor, Civic Centre. Please contact wendy or Ebru if you need a copy of the refund form. NOTE – this is for Secondary schools only as Primary schools own the debt and do not need additional approval to provide a refund.
