In just 7 weeks time Karen Fewell from Northallerton will be ready to start the biggest challenge of her
life. She is heading to Africa with the British Heart Foundation to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
ParentPay are sponsoring Karen, a digital marketing consultant best known for her work promoting healthy
eating in schools, with sites such as www.myschoollunch.co.uk, www.yougo4it.co.uk and the digital element
of National School Meals Week.
This challenge requires a huge amount of physical and mental strength but Karen has a great incentive to
reach the summit. She is aiming to raise £5,000 in memory of her Uncle, who suffered a fatal heart attack in
January 2009.
Karen said: “I wanted to do something that could help prevent others going through something similar. I am
funding the £1950 cost of the climb myself so every penny donated goes to the British Heart Foundation”
ParentPay hopes to raise awareness of Karen’s challenge and the work of the British Heart Foundation. Keeping
children healthy and active is one of the most fundamental factors in preventing heart disease in future
generations of adults.
To help her raise these vital funds, Karen is asking people to collect their change as she is trying to fill
her 70L backpack full of coins. She said: “I am asking people to collect their change over the coming months
and help me fill my rucksack. I’ve already had several people give me their penny pots but I still have a
long way to go.”
Supporters can track progress on Karen’s fundraising website at www.mykiliclimb.co.uk. If you can help
Karen in any way please email mkc@parentpay.com or call Karen’s family on 01609 775686.
